It has been speculated that this may have had bright colours used for display during mating and other communication and species recognition.

Like with other ceratopid dinosaurs it also made them appear larger and more threatening to potential predators.

Yes back to the dinosaurs.

This is a Jobaria a sauropod dinosaur discovered in the Sahara Desert in 1997. It is thought to have been about 18 metres long. Not the largest of the sauropods but still pretty tall:)
This is a Torvosaurus on the prowl with a group of Ornitholestes in the foreground.

The Torvosaurus tanneri was a large theropod dinosaur that lived during the late Jurassic period, about 145 million years ago, in North America and Portugal.

It lived alongside the more famous Allosaurus which it equalled and even exceeded in size at up to 11 meters (36ft) in length.

It was related to the earlier Megalosaurus but was more advanced.

The Ornitholestes was a small theropod of the same period and location. It was about 2 meters (6.5 feet) long.Artbyphilhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13385129941403531583noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13110557.post-39341576169097244792012-01-09T00:39:00.005+00:002012-01-09T00:50:43.115+00:00IF: Grounded<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 177px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-wPgLfFuWREULCt62lNiBEjaVrDc84_ZLiIsSw2TzjGNMouagAxh0C_0DsqRXGa0z5vVqMDjfKu6NDSM5jIouUtGFYLD-eBcySO0Y_MxrT_xdMCRHIvyrrLrEi986eoAzAPElvw/s320/grounded_www.philbrownlow.co.uk.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5695426187023659682" />
I saw a program a while ago part of which featured an inland sea (can't remember where it was) that had dried up leaving behind the boats and ships stranded in the desert. I’ve been watching the new BBC series Planet Dinosaur over the last few weeks. I think its pretty good really and they are at least trying to backup their claims with actual finds which is more than can be said for some programs.

Anyway in the latest episode they had the Majungasaurus. As I haven't had time to do a new image this week I thought I'd put my version up, an image I did a while ago.

The Majungasaurus was an abelisaurid theropod dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous Madagascar about 70 – 65 million years. It was between 6 to 7 metres long though it is thought that the specimens found are not fully grown and that an adult Majungasaurus could reach up to 8 metres.

Well he looks pretty ferocious to me :)Artbyphilhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13385129941403531583noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13110557.post-84904618742220403232011-08-20T13:30:00.004+00:002011-08-20T13:39:23.498+00:00IF: Influence<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 252px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPlja5jPc6D_D2VzRXYG7R3gfAvsK_z4YX1o-VfB7yiFu2s5wbsugNwcUlVletjrfkSoWXPOckHkNw9xX9r_lXVy-Te66QyJn1r8biOcChE1wo15xBaIrXQmuoUrYYq47ltqZpfg/s320/philbrownlow_orwell_TV-mono.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5642930819046740738" />
The first thing that came to mind for this was the evil box of influence that sits innocently in the corner of most peoples homes. Though it may have some potential for good it also influences people for the worst and as been a major tool in the dumbing down of society. It also, if we let it steals a lot of our time that would be better spent doing something else.

Rather than just any TV I thought I'd do a nice Orwellian one, someone who foresaw the possibility of screens being everywhere and constantly bombarding us with trivia and propaganda wherever we are.
