A goodbye to Giger

We sadly lost Giger this week.

He was certainly one of the artists that had an influence on me and got me into art in the 70s.

Here is my take on his most famous creation.

I still think its the best alien design anyone’s come up with so far. It was fun to do this. I see a few more aliens in my future. Aliens vs dinosaurs I wonder how that would go J

IF: Prehistoric

Well the subject for illustration Friday this week is Prehistoric so here is an image I did recently that fits the bill.

One of the most famous and distinctive dinosaurs the stegosaurus. They lived during the Late Jurassic Period about 155 to 150 million years ago in what is now western North America and a species was also present in Europe. They grew up to about  9 metres (30 ft)in length.

IF: Underwater

Well I've had yet another long break in posting here  but actually found time to do this one.

This is an illustration of a German Uboat from WWII. I've been intending to do an image like this for a while to try out the underwater look and  with this weeks topic it had to be done:)

This is a 3D model rendered in Bryce and then lots of post work applied to create a more painterly effect.
